with special guest, Voces8 of London
Voces8 returns to the Twin Cities to take the stage with us in a ground-breaking performance of “Missa Ave Virgo Sanctissima” by Renaissance composer Géry de Ghersem, active in the Spanish courts of the 17th century. Over 200 of Ghersem’s works were destroyed in the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. This program of ethereal vocal music includes Gregorian chant, Spanish-language villanescas, Latin motets, an encore performance of Sergey Khvoshchinsky's "Ave Maria" (commissioned by The Rose Ensemble in 2010), and Ghersem’s “miraculous” masterpiece, his sole-surviving mass. Don’t miss the combined forces of The Rose Ensemble and Voces8 in this truly historical event.
